CD12

Die CD12 vom japanischen Hersteller Rodan ist mit 30mm Ziffernhöhe insgesamt die drittgrößte japanische Kopffüßler-Nixie (nach der CD46 mit 74mm und der CD27 mit 54mm):

Diese Röhre stammt aus einem Anzeigegerät der bekannten Firma PIONEER™, das als Speaker Indicator bezeichnet ist:

Jegliche Hinweise zum Zweck des Geräts sind natürlich erwünscht (Emailadresse hier).

Aber das Rätsel scheint nun gelöst - siehe den Nachtrag am Ende der Seite.

Verbaut wurden die CD12-Nixies als Anzeigeelemente in einer sogenannten Switching Unit von Yamaha, Typenbezeichnung YSU-3:

Diese Units dienten dazu, ein verstärktes Signal auf verschiedene Lautsprecher zu verteilen (zu switchen, daher der Name). Das Anzeigegerät, also der Speaker Indicator, zeigte an, welches Lautsprecherpaar gerade angewählt war.

CD12

The CD12 from the Japanese manufacturer Rodan has a digit height of 30mm which makes the CD12 the third largest Japanese Nixie tube (after the CD46 with 74mm digit height and the CD27 with 54mm):

I found this tube in a display unit from PIONEER™, to be more precise, a Speaker Indicator:

Any hints for the use and purpose of the Speaker Indicator can be sent to me via email.

But the mystery of the Speaker Indicator seems to be solved, see the additional information at the bottom of the page.

Recently I discovered several pictures of the Speaker Indicator in use:

The CD12 tubes were used in so-called Switching Units from Yamaha, type name YSU-3:

These units were used to switch an amplified signal to several sets of speakers. The Speaker Indicator was thus indicating the momentarily selected set of speakers.
